THE FIELD MUSEUM
The World’s Fair 1893

The 1893 World’s Fair has captured imaginations in a way no other World’s Fair has managed. So to promote the Field Museum’s Wonders of the World’s Fair exhibit, we knew we had to do something really attention-getting. After all, many of the items were being put on display for the first time in 120 years. To accomplish this, we gave our audience a ticket to the Fair.

Through TV, posters and an immersive mobile app, we invited the viewer to “See what they saw.”, allowing them to experience what it was like to be on that first Ferris wheel ride or how it would have been to see electricity for the first time. Through interactive 360-degree landscapes, we brought the Kansas pavilion and the Midway to life around them and through text and videos gave them insight into the stories surrounding the museum’s oldest collection, all from their mobile device.

In the end, it wasn’t just a campaign, it was a time machine!
